Ascent: Return to Work
In partnership with Path Forward, VMware offers people in the U.S. with five plus years of professional experience with the opportunity to restart their career after a two plus year career break. Program participants complete an 18-week professional internship where they are given access to technical training, mentorship, and professional development.

Return to Work: Nakshatra

At VMware, we understand that taking a career break is sometimes necessary. Ascent Return to Work: Nakshatra is a thoughtfully designed program for women to help you restart your career having been away from work for more than 2 years. We hire returnees for technical and non-technical roles in business units such as Product, IT (Information Technology), Sales, and Finance.

Behind The Experience
A Consistent and Equitable Interview Process
VMware launched the Nakshatra program in 2020 when the first batch of returnees were successfully onboarded.
Under this program, you will be invited to participate in a four and half months (18 weeks) paid returnship program. This program is open to professionals who reside in India, have a minimum of 2+ years of professional work experience and a career break of minimum 2 years.

During the program, you will receive on-the-job training, mentorship, and learning paths to support a successful transition back into the workforce. After successfully completing the program, you have the opportunity to be considered for a full-time role at VMware.
We have put together a support system at VMware, which comprises of the reporting manager, technical mentor and a Women in Tech buddy who will be available to support you as you refresh your existing skills and learn modern technologies, which you can put it into practice at work.

VMware’s interview process consists of three assessments to gain a holistic picture of the skills, achievements, and motivations you will bring to VMware.We are hiring for technical and non-technical roles in the program.

Round 1:
Work Sample Simulation
An “at home” project, where you will be given an opportunity to complete a short-project or prepare a presentation in advance of your interview.

Round 2:
Discovery Interview
Two-part interview that probes into past achievements and problem-solving.

Round 3:
Strengths Interview
Interview looking for natural strengths, talents, and motivations.

VMware Ascent Technical Bootcamp
In partnership with Galvanize, the VMware Ascent Technical Bootcamp provides career opportunities for people in the United States that have non-traditional backgrounds and skillsets, and who are looking for entry level backend software development positions. You will participate in a twelve-week, immersive technical training prior to being extended a job offer from VMware. Access to VMware technical mentors, one-on-one meetings with a dedicated talent acquisition expert, and instruction in DevOps, Java microservice development, advanced data structures, service design patterns, distributed application development, and VMware-specific technologies are several of the benefits of this opportunity. Once hired as a full-time employee, you will receive a personalized, ninety-day onboarding and mentorship experience.
