Finance Manager Central FP&A for MAPBU – Bookings and Revenue

Our team is seeking a talented manager to own revenue & bookings planning, forecasting and reporting for MAPBU.  This manager owns the end-to-end view of revenue and bookings and provides an independent view to the leaders of the Finance organization, including the MAPBU CFO.  As MAPBU is primarily a subscription/cloud business with abundance of customer/product level data, this manager is relentlessly data driven, using machine learning and/or AI tools to train and ultimately accurately predict revenue and bookings outcomes. This role itself is the essence of “modern” finance in the Modern Applications Platform business unit.  This manager will work closely with the revenue accounting and operation teams, sales finance teams, R&D, as well as the IT/Data teams across the company.  Being successful in this role requires a large degree of analytical thought leadership, deep understanding of bookings and revenue principles, and the ability to problem solve and synthesize complex issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bookings-to-Revenue modeling. Maintain and enhance the MAPBU book-to-rev model, staying in synch with bookings policies and revenue accounting rules.  Influence articulation of subscription/cloud related bookings policy.
  • Bookings and Revenue forecasting.  Create forecasting for bookings and revenue using ML/AI principles and technologies, utilizing MAPBU data customer and product level data.  Transpose model to identify opportunities for additional growth.
  • Bookings.  Create consolidated bookings reporting across the various lines of business in MAPBU.  Provide insights into business performance.  Proactively identify risks and upsides.  Create bookings scenarios for MAPBU.
  • Annual and Long-range planning.  Translate MAPBU strategy and company goals into long-range and annual bookings and revenue goals and plans.
  • Executive Communication. As part of planning and guidance preparation, the manager leads the creation of bookings and revenue materials to be shared with MAPBU leadership team
  • Drive automation.  To ensure automation of key analyses and reporting, this role defines the areas of future automation and directs technology team to implement the business requirements.
  • Team Leadership.  Lead, develop and coach individual contributors

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Experience & Education:
    • 5-7 years’ experience in financial planning and analysis with emphasis on top-line in a cloud/subscription business
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business or STEM from Top Tier University
    • Strong mathematical, physics or computer science background preferred
    • Background in corporate finance, treasury or investment banking a plus
  • Financial and Business Analysis:
    • Expert in complex ML/AI modeling using common tools
    • Ability to do to analyses "on-the-spot" with team and finance executives
    • Ability to proactively foresee issues/opportunities, and propose ways to address them
    • Strong and independent analytical thinker and influencer

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to simply explain even complex solutions and issues
