At VMware, we are expanding our Network and Security Sales (NSX) in the MD/DC/VA area and looking for sales professional with FEDERAL (National Security) experience to join our team.

Business Summary:

The Senior Account Executive within the Network and Security Business Unit (NSBU) is responsible for a coordinated sales approach with VMware’s NSX internal and external sales team with a focus on the Federal-National Security market. This extended team is driven to a common goal within a set number of Enterprise and Global Accounts. The mission of this group is to broaden the reach of these accounts in order to ensure the VMware NSX foothold across the assigned regions. Our solution set is viewed as a ‘platform’ within an account and changes the role that IT plays within that account from being considered a cost burden to a strategic deployment.
*Please note: This role requires a Top Secret (TS/SCI) clearance.

Job Role and Responsibilities:

  • In this role you will be responsible for selling VMware network virtualization and security solutions into Healthcare and Enterprise Accounts.
  • You will help drive account portfolio sales strategy and focus on top accounts and establish sales cadence with the account team
  • You will work closely with our channel partners
  • You will take an active role in moving the transaction through the sales cycle
  • You will be expected to drive virtualization adoption and identify opportunities in Tier 1 accounts
  • You will solidify your relationships with existing customer accounts and elevate VMware to a more strategic position
  • You will get familiar with your customer’s business needs, challenges, and technical requirements, and match VMware NSX solutions accordingly

Required Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience in related Datacenter software industry
  • 4+ years of experience in direct federal sales
  • 4+ years of experience in related network route/switch, network management, and/or network security based solutions
  • Experience selling in an overlay or product sales specialist capacity
  • Experience selling in both a direct and an indirect or channel driven model
  • Experience leading a team of professionals in sales campaigns that include sales executives, field SE’s, Inside Sales, Field Marketing, Services, etc.
  • Proven track record of success selling in a highly competitive environment
  • BA/BS degree or higher, or equivalent job related experience


- Estimated travel is between 30% and 50%
