Are you passionate about building great user interfaces for products that touch 100s of 1000s of customers? We are the user interface team that builds interfaces for the industry leading virtualization platform (vSphere) used by about 500000 customers worldwide and also the new VMware Cloud on AWS which brings private and public clouds together into a unique hybrid cloud solution.

As a member of CSP User Interface team, you will play a key role in understanding customer use cases and defining the user interface for various solutions. We believe in delivering consumer-simple, enterprise-grade user interfaces. It requires unique technical skill, innovation and creativity to provide easy-to-use interfaces that satisfy the security, complexity and scale requirements of enterprises. We also believe in building software the right way using agile, test driven development, and continuous delivery methodologies.

We are scouting for a talented frontend software engineer to join our team. We are responsible for building a user interface that provides a consistent experience across VMware products. To make their experience coherent, efficient and effective requires both technical skill and imagination. You will be working in an elite team respected for its innovation and execution. Role Responsibilities:

Delivering responsive, bug-free, stable, performant, secure, scalable and accessibility compliant User Interfaces.

Writing tested, idiomatic, and documented JavaScript, HTML and CSS.

Learning and applying new technologies, best design practices and usability patterns.

Contributing to end-to-end system architecture, working with backend engineers.

Collaborating with UX team, Product Managers and other technical teams to create delightful user experience.

Required Skills:

6+ years of overall software development experience, with an emphasis on client side/frontend engineering.

Hands-on experience building, debugging and working with large scale enterprise web applications.

Expert in modern JavaScript libraries and frameworks like Angular, React or VUE.

Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3 and CSS frameworks.

Experience with jQuery, Node.js, JavaScript build tools and container technologies like Docker & Kubernetes.

Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS, Bootstrap, etc.

Experience with design and implementation of more complex user interfaces – reusable custom controls, live updates, virtual data abstractions, MVC, etc.

Experience building rich data-driven web applications by consuming RESTful services and APIs, also Web Sockets.

Experience in doing performance testing and optimizations in H5/JS/Angular applications.

Familiarity in using client-side testing tools like Karma, Jasmine. E2E Testing tools like Protractor. Test coverage tools like Istanbul, etc.

Strong CS fundamentals with deep understanding of data structures and algorithms.

Nice to Have Experience:

Good grasp on usability and interaction design.

Practical understanding of OOP/OOD & design patterns.

Experience with Typescript.

Experience with CI/CD methodologies and tooling such as Jenkins, Gerrit or GitLab.

Accessibility Experience.

Understanding of application security, memory management.

Understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.

Must be comfortable with ambiguity and pushing back on requirements vs. understanding executing within a “larger picture”.
