Business Summary

VMware’s Cloud Provider Software Business Unit is seeking a Senior Product Marketing Manager (PMM) to join an exciting team at VMware responsible for simplifying the transition to a hybrid cloud by supporting our offerings on industry-leading public clouds. Together, we are a dynamic, fast-pace team that plays a critical role in helping VMware’s large ecosystem of cloud providers (VCPP partners) solve customer challenges and understand  the benefits of adopting VMware products and solutions.

Job Role and Responsibilities

VMware PMM's are business owners who are responsible for supporting the go-to-market initiatives for a product. Successful PMMs build inclusive, cross-functional teams that work together to support the success of our business. The responsibilities require setting the overall vision for product go-to-market strategy, knowing and monitoring key performance indicators, understanding the dynamics of both direct and channel sales, and influencing many teams towards common goals.

This role will be part of a diverse, world-class team, and responsible for nurturing the growth and adoption of VMware solutions on key hyperscaler clouds. Key activities include developing core messaging and storylines to evangelize both cloud-focused products as well as how we leverage our strong cloud services and SaaS (software as a service) portfolio. That will be accomplished through partner enablement, end customer support, content development, blogging, analyst meetings, and industry events. You will also research market size, market potential, and customer buying behavior.

Key responsibilities as Sr. PMM in CPSBU include the following:

  • Work in a dynamic, high-energy environment where you can share ideas openly, be creative, and test out new marketing initiatives
  • Define the marketing strategy for key VMware products, solutions and services that are used by public cloud partners
  • Influence a cross-functional team that spans marketing, engineering and sales at VMware to align on different cloud offerings and how they can best be used to meet customer needs
  • Develop positioning and messaging with partners that aligns to VMware’s cloud vision and addresses key end customer challenges
  • Build the whole spectrum of sales tools and collateral (PowerPoint presentations, datasheets, white papers, customer case studies, demos, and training materials)
  • Acquire deep customer knowledge through market research, segmentation analysis and customer interviews.
  • Set and monitor key marketing metrics to ensure business success.

Required Skills

  • BA/BS in Computer Science/Engineering or BA/BS in Business/Marketing or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in the software or cloud technology industry
  • Demonstrated aptitude for quickly learning new products and technologies and leveraging that knowledge to confidently communicate and market to technical professionals
  • Ability to handle a number of concurrent activities with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Passionate about technology with a strong drive to advance the state of IT
  • Ability to influence people at all levels across a broad variety of job functions
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Willingness to travel, as the job requires (estimated at 10-20%)
