Job Description 
As our enterprise technical support engineer, you will provide technical support to both staff and customers who are working to implement VMware ESX Server and related products. 

Responsibilities 
Respond to customer inquiries, primarily via email (70%) and telephone (30%) 
Resolve and customer technical issues through diligent research, reproduction, and troubleshooting. 
Work directly with staff in quality assurance, engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and administration to resolve problems 
Document all technical inquiries; develop and review content for knowledgebase 
Provide training or assistance to junior staff 
Participate in testing alpha and beta products 

Requirements 
Experience in providing technical support to enterprise customers or software customers 
Excellent interpersonal skills 
Strong in spoken and written English 
Working knowledge of Linux, Microsoft (Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows 98, 95, and 3.1; MS-DOS), plus x86 platforms, devices, and networking 
Experience with operation and administration of Linux or Unix systems 

or
Experience with operation and administration of Windows NT or Windows 2000 systems

Experience with working on Opensource
Highly Preferred Skills 
Hands on experience with VMware ESX Server or VMware products 
Experience in working with development organizations in a new product introductions role 
Technical Certifications (MCSE, CCNA, Linux Certifications etc.) 
Strong Linux or UNIX administration skills Familiarity with the installation and configuration of Linux or UNIX operating systems 
Setup and operation of TCP/IP networking on Linux or UNIX systems 
Ability to program and debug Perl administration scripts 
Good practical working ability with UNIX utilities, including editors and command shells 
At least 4 to 6 years of related software and hardware experience 
B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or equivalent work experience
