We are looking for a Marketing Manager for China

Major Function and Responsibilities:

The professional must provide leadership in driving all marketing initiatives and programs in China and in close collaboration with the Greater China Marketing Functional Managers and the China Regional Sales Teams. This person will report to the Senior Director, Greater China marketing. These activities are strongly related on the further development of the partner and end-user business and community and the awareness of VMware’s solutions in China

Key objectives:

Take ownership of the marketing strategy and execution in the country focusing on the following key areas:

  • Generate awareness and demand creation of VMware’s solutions in all important market segments
  • Develop customer (end-user) marketing strategy to drive up-sell and cross-sell opportunities
  • Further Partner network (resellers, SI’s, ISV’s, alliances, and distributors) through marketing tactics in order to meet the revenue targets and to address new market segments

Job description:

The key activities of this role will include:

  • Develop marketing plan for the China region in close collaboration with the Senior Regional Director, Country Managers, and Sales leaders
  • Gain extensive knowledge on the different market segments and generate plans to increase market penetration
  • Drive and control the lead management process including tracking and tracing
  • Support the partner related marketing activities
  • Work closely together with the local sales team and other internal stakeholders to make sure that the plan and execution is in line with overall strategy
  • Manage and control the marketing budget
  • Manage and develop the local end-user community
  • Produce and publish customer case stories and best practices

The role also includes the management of a team of 3 people + 1 intern.


The person will be measured on:

  • Effective implementation of marketing plans
  • Number of generated qualified leads versus target & marketing pipeline
  • Customer Executive Touch
  • Improved awareness (number of articles versus objective) & social media results
  • Budget control
  • Number of customer case stories versus target

Candidate Profile:

  • Education: Professional marketing qualification
  • Degree/ MBA
  • Language: Fluent in English, local language

Previous Experience:

  • The candidate has held senior marketing position(s) at software vendors, selling products via a two tier distribution model
  • Has developed and implemented marketing strategies and produced the associated marketing programs, collateral or products, with proven results
  • Used to work in a fast-changing international environment

Personal Profile:

  • Able to provide leadership to ‘own’ the country
  • Capable of understanding the company’s strategy and implement it within the context of the local market
  • Capable of working closely with internal stakeholders and customers, both channel partners and end users to represent and the company and products
  • Enthusiastic team player with ‘make it happen’ attitude
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently
  • Excellent communication/presentation skill
  • Experienced with working in a global marketing team
